The day we did everything…

We gave Johns a list of options to do today and instead of picking and choosing they said “we want to do everything “. Ooookay. Can do! By starting the morning at 5am and staying strictly to our schedule we were pretty sure we could pull it off. And we did! Yay!

We started with Megiddo (aka, Armageddon) where we had hoped to do a quick tour of the ancient towns intricate tunnel/cistern system. It was closed due to flooding so we just scampered around and looked at ruins. It’s on the top of a hill so you have a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside.

We took a scenic drive from Megiddo to Beit Shean, where Saul was hung from the wall. The flowers were truly stunning and so was the little trail we bumped our van down. It’s absolutely gorgeous up there. We loitered a little extra so the ruins at Beit Shan got a very cursory glance.

Next stop Nazareth Village located in, you guessed it, Nazareth! Google for more info.

Lunch and motion sickness pills were devoured at noon and then we set out to drive up Mt Tabor. Set out being the key word. The whole navigation situation is a bit interesting. For starters we’re 9 people in a nine passenger van. I get the front seat between Heath and John and for some reason I haven’t heard anyone expressing jealousy. Its my job to be navigation expert, ( this involves choosing between imaps, google maps and Waze for every journey, sometimes running 2 at once) holding the phone so the driver can see, holding the drivers cup, feeding the driver chips, keeping the jet legged driver awake, and in general warding off all the helpful tips flying out of the boys mouths. Back to this getting to Mt Tabor business. We got there all right, but it was an amazing route. Wrong way down one ways, up hills so steep Candace was yelping as loud as the tires, down pot holed back alleys and around a million roundabouts. Half way thru we abandoned google maps and continued on Waze. It really was epic. As Heath lurched down yet another random street he snapped “what’s that thing set on anyway? Some kind of crazy adventure setting???” But we made it up despite!

From there it was Jordan River, place where pigs went willy nilly into the ocean, Capernaum, Mt of Beatitudes and finally, Galilee Sailing.

A gorgeous ending to our day photo from Pintrest

Yes. Truly a beautiful hour long boat ride on the Sea of Galilee! We sat on the edges of the wooden boat, dangled our toes in the water and soaked up the beauty. The water was calm, Captain David was amusing and it was a perfect ending to a great day. We stayed out till the sun sank behind the hills, then docked and headed for home sweet home.
