Exodus

Eventually, like 4 hours eventually, we made it across the border to our waiting bus. It’s a nice, modern affair with cushy seats and blue curtains. We were given our mineral water and then our convoy headed out. We’re traveling with another tour bus and two police escorts. A tourist police rode in our bus along with several other guys representing several other things.

The main road to Cairo is closed. Great News. We’re stuck driving the long way around, dipping all the way down to Mt. Sinai. Ray just kept feeling worse, so finally at Mt Sinai we had him assessed at a clinic. They gave him a bunch of stuff including fluids, and he’s a little more stable now. The other bus got tired of waiting, so they somehow managed to finagle a way to go on without us.

There’s not really food along this route, so we’re making do with manna. Manna nowadays looks less like white dust and more like chips, pop, ice cream and other trashy things. I sincerely hope the chicken sandwiches we ate don’t make us sick. That would really be the last straw.

The tickets Jordan had rebooked all got canceled. They were via Dubai, and I guess they shut down some of the airspace they would fly through. Once again we are all ticket-less.

It’s almost 7pm. We aren’t even to Suez yet. Guess it will be a late night. Funny how that makes me a tad grumpy. At least there won’t be missiles.

We really, really appreciate all your prayers. Still need them, especially Ray.

Hopefully it won’t end up being 40 years in the wilderness… Prayers for your safety, health, and speedy return to North America!
